This is me: I’m Sam Collett aka What Sam Saw Today
I laugh and smile alot. I like to have fun and make money along the way.
I love property and, I especially love property auctions. (I also love vino, eating, dancing to very loud music, the words “AWESOME” and “OMG”, have a particular penchant for multiple !!!!!!!!! and am obsessed with Lamborghini’s!).
I started my property career in 2004 with £15k having quit a successful career in marketing. I loved what I did – I just wanted to be my own boss. And that’s what I set out do. It’s not always been easy – I even set up my own lettings agency in 2007 because I couldn’t find a decent management company! I successfully sold Gorgeous Homes in 2012 to start another adventure. I planned to have a sabbatical for a year.
It didn’t happen.
My love of writing got the better of me. Not that I ever set out to be a “proper” writer. I started this blog in July 2010 after being in Stylist magazine for a feature of “Work/Life”. The response to my little feature was mind-blowing!
So I started this blog to share my property stories. I am amazed and thrilled by the amount of awards this little blog has won, not to mention The Telegraph featuring it as a Top 10 Home & Property blog. I am delighted and humbled you take the time to read my stories – and I love it even more when you take part.
Now I write more than ever – I have a regular column with the Evening Standard Homes & Property, the industry bible; Estates Gazette and, two book publishing deals for How to Buy Property at Auction and Property Investment: The Essential Rules. Unbelievably, I now also have a literary agent and more books are planned!
I am still an active property investor and an award winning landlord (NLA Women in Property) with properties scattered from London to Lincoln to Liverpool and many other places in between.
Last, but not least – I love hearing from people and sharing stories – so do get in touch:
