If You Want To Buy A Houseboat, This Is NOT How You Do It!

21 Jan

I love a bargain.  Especially when it involves property.

And so wanting to follow my own advice of last week (investing in property locally) I decided to do some sniffing around on the net and see what I could find for less nearby.

I didn’t get very far before I spotted a one bed for just £29,995 in Broxbourne, EN10.  Broxbourne is a pleasant town in Hertfordshire and is just down the road from me.  It’s not an area I know so well, but it’s pretty close to the Easy Buy To Let Property and so it fits geographically.  Critically (for me and my buying criteria) Broxbourne has a regular train service to London (Liverpool Street) with a journey time of just 32 minutes.

Of course, there was a catch.

The property was a houseboat.

5 Wonderfully Weird UK Holiday Lettings

6 Jul

I totally heart airbnb.

In fact, I don’t think I have ever spent a more pleasurable time looking for somewhere to stay!  The variety is tantalising – and some of the prices are definitely drool-worthy!  I’ve opted to stay in a boat themed Coastguard cottage this time – but my wish-list is well and truly pumped!

Anyway, it would be rude if I didn’t share some of the beautifully bizarre places you can rent if you fancy something a little bit different for your summer holidays this year!

Ah – it’s almost summer!

And with the onset of summer comes dreams of tanning ourselves on sun-drenched beaches.  Of course, summer doesn’t always mean sun in the UK so how about buying a cheap property in the Canaries which offers year round summer sun?

Property repossessions are a sad fact of the housing market – but they also offer opportunities for budget conscious buyers to bag a property bargain at way below market value.

So if you fancy a cheap place in the sun – here’s my pick of the latest bank repossessions priced under 50,000 EUR.

OMG!!! This Is A Loo With A View

29 Oct

I am nosy.  I’ll admit it.  I cannot walk past an interesting building without pausing to take a closer look…

Which is how I managed to find myself in some former loos on the promenade in Sheringham, Norfolk.

The poor tradesman who I accosted was quietly trying to have a sneaky fag-break until I strolled along and interrupted his peace.

And demanded a full tour.

And would you believe it, without any prior planning or knowledge I ended up in some public toilets which had been sold at auction two years earlier.

This is what they looked like before:
