How To Invest Like A Queen

And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust

(John Deacon, Queen “Another One Bites the Dust” Lyrics)

Yep, I am feeling “Another One Bites the Dust” just about sums up my property buying situation at the moment – which is not good as “I’m Going Slightly Mad”.

But “It’s a Hard Life” being a property investor: one minute “It’s a Kind of Magic” the next you’re questioning “Was It All Worth It?”

So the house I thought I was going to buy has been sold to somebody else.  Of course, they put me “Under Pressure” to pay more, but I didn’t let a “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” get in the way.  Business is business.

But the “The Show Must Go On” and while that property may be a “Lost Opportunity”, “Let Me Entertain You”  with my Top Three Tips to stop me (and you) from going “Stone Cold Crazy” while I find the next!

1.  Be prepared, but don’t be pre-occupied

Properties come onto the market all the time.  It’s important to have “Staying Power” and alerts set up.  Check them regularly, badger the estate agents – but if nothing comes up “Hang On In There”.  You cannot make people sell their properties quicker than what they want to/ need to.  “Some Day, One Day” a property will turn up!

2. Learn to let go

It’s easy to get caught up and try and make a deal stack just because it’s the only deal on the table/ you have looked for so long to buy something.  But “Don’t Lose Your Head”.   If a property does not make financial sense you have to “Tear It Up”.  Buying a property “just because” is financial suicide and is guaranteed to give you a “Sheer Heart Attack”

3.  Occupy your time with other interests

Property is addictive and it can easily become a full-time occupation.  However, unless you have a deal on the table/ are in the midst of a project it’s important to “Spread Your Wings” and do other stuff.  “These Are The Days of Our Lives” and we have to make the most of the time we’ve got – endless property hunting is akin to “Chinese Torture” and should be avoided at all costs!

And one day, when the “Breakthru” happens (which it will) you’ll be “Doing All Right” and singing from the rooftops my most favourite Queen tune of all:

Don’t stop me now I’m having such a good time
I’m having a ball don’t stop me now

(Freddie Mercury, Queen “Don’t Stop Me Now” Lyrics)

But in all seriousness, while I have over-egged the Queen puns (!) the property investment tips are still relevant…even if Queen did *sing* most of them!

I sympathize with your recent experience with estate agents. Let’s just say that they are the ‘great pretenders’ but alas ‘ they don’t fool me’ and indeed the ‘show must go on’…so ‘let me live’
